Walt Disney World, this weekend, has special events like The Princess Half Marathon and the International Festival of the Arts at Epcot, Universal has Florida’s biggest party; Mardi Gras with Macklemore on Saturday, and SeaWorld has The Seven Seas International Food Festival with Flo Rida on Saturday and 98 Degrees on Sunday.   If you’re not going to the theme parks, go enjoy some other activities in or around Orlando.  Below are a few other events happening in Orlando and the surrounding area this weekend.

 

Annual Downtown Food & Wine Fest

In the 11th year, this two-day event at Lake Eola in the heart of Downtown Orlando brings you the best of local food, wines from around the world, and an array of bands. More than thirty of Orlando’s premier restaurants provide dishes that will have you quivering in delight as you sip over 50 wines from around the world. All to the sounds of live music.

Be prepared to be part of thousands of contentedness, including me!  I’m excited to see JUST LOUD, Everclear, and The Strumbellas!!  The Fest is presented and produced by Entercom Radio, led by Orlando’s favorites Mix 105.1, 1059 SUNNY FM, and FM 101.9.

Chili Music Festival

Heating it up at Fun Spot, this fun-packed chili-themed event will give you experiences such as Celebrity Chopped Chili Battle, Celebrity Chili Eating Contest, and of course, your favorite chili-themed food truck items!

Enjoy Live music performances by Jared Violin, The Conglomerate, and Crenshaw. Hosted By The Queen of Youtube Glozell Green and Co-Hosted by Emily Ellyn of Food Network. Emily will host the Chili Eating and Celebrity Chopped Battle! Bring the family there is something to do for all ages!

Carlisle Winter Florida AutoFest

A vehicle extravaganza for car enthusiasts with a classic car auction and collector car show.  Carlisle Events honors the Summer of ’69 in 2019!  Cruise to a car show on our 2019 event schedule to experience one of 10 annual collector car and truck events.

The on-site museum with its’ aeronautical flavor will be open, a flyover will have you gazing skywards and helicopter rides are all part of the day’s entertainment.  Admission is $10 Friday and Saturday, $5 Sunday, $15 for the weekend. Kids 12 and under are free.

Orlando Magic Vs. Chicago Bulls

The Magic are on their hottest run since they traded Dwight Howard, officially signaling the start of a rebuild that’s lasted longer than most would have expected, having won five in a row and 7 of 8. Will the winning continue against the Chicago Bulls? Jump to the Amway Center to find out.

Bay Area Renaissance Festival

King Henry and Queen Katherine Parr invite one and all to their 16th Century European village featuring stages with live entertainment. Over 100 artisans fill the Festival marketplace to display and sell their handcrafted wares for a truly unique shopping experience.

Patrons can interact with hundreds of memorable characters roaming the village streets, as well as view, live armored jousting throughout the day. Come celebrate our newest season by visiting the Festival grounds this year. Huzzah!

Minneola Hot Air Balloons in the Park!

See hot air balloons in the park and maybe even go for a tethered ride for a small $10 fee.  Train rides, pony rides, and bounce houses will be available for the kids!  A small charge for each activity will help to raise funds for Special Olympics Florida and a donation will also be made to the Parks & Rec department to support other Minneola events 🙂

Greek Festival by St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church

St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church is holding its annual Greek Festival.  This 3 day event has been a tradition for over 30 years in Winter Haven.
Join for delicious Greek cuisine, authentic pastries, live music, and dancing. Immerse yourself in Greek culture for a day! Ompa!
Take a free tour of St. Sophia’s church sanctuary.  Bring some friends and come enjoy the lively atmosphere.  Try the octopus, lamb shank, and…have you everseen saganaki/flaming cheese?!?  Remember to save room for baklava!
