PITBULL Concert FREE

Pitbull, the rapper who once asked the world to “Give Me Everything,” won’t ask for anything to see him Saturday, June 1, in Orlando. The Miami superstar will be performing a free concert starting at 6 p.m. at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.

The concert, organized by the office of attorney Dan Newlin, honors Orlando police officer Kevin Valencia, who was shot in the line of duty last June. Valencia currently remains in a coma. A GoFundMe account for his family and medical expenses has raised more than $200,000 in the past 11 months toward a goal of $750,000.

“Thank you so much for the love and support this community has shown our family,” wrote Valencia’s wife Meghan in an email about the concert. “Thank you to Pitbull and his team for entertaining everyone and honoring a true hero! I cannot express my gratitude to everyone for continuing to pray for Kevin’s recovery! We are beyond words!”

Newlin, a former police officer, is using the event to raise awareness of the Valencia family’s continuing struggles.

“When tragedy happens it is often a big news event, and then people seem to forget,” said the attorney on his website. “We can never allow our community to forget Officer Kevin Valencia and how he and his family continue to suffer and fight today. As a community, it is important that we show the highest level of respect and honor for Officer Kevin Valencia and having a free community concert is a great way to show our support for the Valencia family.”

Fans looking to attend don’t need tickets for the rain-or-shine event. Outside food and drinks will not be allowed. Bags brought to the concert must be clear. People may bring blankets.

The concert also includes performances by DJ Vice and Nacho.

When: Saturday, June 1st

Where: Central Florida Fairgrounds located at 4603 W. Colonial Drive in Orlando
